loving our neighbors as ourselves

Calvary has been a faithful presence in Holland, Mi for more than 100 years –and we continue on that journey. Our simple hope is to impact the community in which God has placed us by loving our neighbors as ourselves. We seek to do this by sharing our resources, helping in the neighborhood, by forming great relationships, and by investing energies into the development of communities located around Calvary.

We know that every person is created in the image of God, we honor them by never doing for someone what they are capable of doing for themselves. Instead we will support them by walking with them during their journey. Our ministry efforts are focused on development and the empowerment of communities and families.

If you would like to learn more about ways you can serve our local community through Calvary Local Missions, or if you have a serving idea, please contact Scott Sterenberg.

#1 On-site facilitators. This role is for a volunteer that is looking to take it one step further and take the lead during a volunteer project that falls under non business hours. For example, Calvary wants to come in and volunteer from 5:30-6:30pm. We would need our facilitator to show up at 5pm and set up the volunteer project, welcome all our Calvary guests, get the group started on their project, answer basic KFB questions, and clean up/close up. The time commitment would be 1 1/2-2 hours possibly 1x per month.

#2 Volunteer for a one hour shift during the week packing lunches. 10-11am is food prep. 1-2pm is packing.

#3 Bag decorating is always needed. Each day 565 bags are used and the kids love the decorated ones!
